Video game review number one hundred and fifty nine in my 365 Games in 365 Days project is"WarioWare Smooth Moves".
After the very disappointing "DIY", which I played on an airplane last month, I was all ready for a good WarioWare game.
First of all, the minute you boot this one, he says: "It's Wii, Wario..." so those are automatic points. This game follows the standard Warioware formula, which already means it's much better than most current DS version as far as I'm concerned.
You have the fast paced music, unique stages, and you unlock new areas of the little city as you progress through the title. Some of the games are a little harder due to the delay of the Wiimote, still fun though.
I beat a few levels, took on a few bosses, and for the most part...this game was pretty intuitive. There are mini-games where you swing a flyswatter or pick a nose, and they're just as easy to quickly figure out as their DS counterparts. Others are tougher. This one "trap" game gave me quite a bit of trouble, and I have never been able to successful figure out how to win it.
Luckily for me, there's a mode where you can practice on games that you're having trouble with, and I worked on a few there a bit. I never did master "Trap", but I was able to figure out the others that I was having trouble with and make more progress.
Overall? This is a 7/10. It's a good game, but nothing I'm going to buy. I like the original DS version better, and frankly...I couldn't see myself spending much time with this once I'd encountered all the mini-games. It's not one of those titles you pick up and play with a friend like Wii Sports, so after I was done with it....I was glad it was a rental.
