Video game number one hundred and fifty five: Aqua

Video game review number one hundred and fifty five in my 365 Games in 365 Days project is"Aqua".

For all you folks who don't keep up on your gaming news, this new XBLA title is not about that band that sings the Barbie Girl song, although I think they're about due for their own Guitar Hero or Rock Band release....don't you agree?

Nah, this game is all about boats. Oddly enough, this game also reminds me a bit of Crimson Skies, which is weird...because I had just finished another one today that did. I believe this game takes place around the same time period as Crimson Skies, but instead of planes, everyone has a war boat of some kind.

I played through the first few levels...and it's not terrible. A top down twin stick shooter at it's core, you'll find yourself instantly familiar with the basic gameplay and shooting controls. If you're interested in launching mines, bombs or your "special moves"...that will take a little more practice.

Overall? 5/10. I'm calling this one average because after my time with it, I wasn't feeling terribly eager to play more. It's not a bad game, but it's not exciting either. It just..."is".

Achievements? They seem to be awarded fairly and frequently. Here are a couple I got in my first level or two.
