Wedding planning coming right along

With less than 2 months to the big day, it's getting to that time where just about every day has a little something to do with my upcoming wedding.

So far, we have a pretty rough plan for everything, but there are tons of big details we still need to nail down. Menus, decorations, music, and all this stuff that in one way or another I somehow have my hand in. Ok, maybe not the decorations, but everything else. Oh yeah, and I need something to wear. :-)

We're slowly making progress. This weekend we got the rings. Hers is ready now, mine has to be ordered and is going to be awhile. I figured I was going to have a real easy time picking (and technically, I think I chose faster than Heather did) but mine ended up being the more difficult one to get. At least I guess that means it's somewhat unique. As unique as a ring from a chain jewelry store can be.

We arranged for transportation for the guests from the two hotels. This is going to be one of the highlights of the evening I think. I'm not even sure if I get to participate in this little event or not (we may be held up for photography), but it sounds like fun and I can't wait to see how it actually turns out.

Heather has worked out a budget in Excel and a "To Do" list in word. We're slowing adding to both, and it's nice to know that we're not too far off the mark on either one. There was a scare in the budget for awhile, as it showed us as being thousands over budget, but it turns out that it was just a formula adding a section up multiple times. Whew.

Let's see, what other gripes do I have?

Because of space constraints at the venue, our guest list had to be a lot smaller than I would have liked. We're really hoping that everyone that RSVP'd actually shows up. Otherwise, we're going to have empty seats that we could have given to other friends or family Heather and I really wanted to have there, but thought we didn't have room for.

Several of my family and a few friends booked their flights and hotels this week. With a destination wedding, knowing that your guests have tickets in hand is better than any RSVP you could possibly get, so every time someone books their flight I know they're on the way for sure, which is good. I think we still have a few stragglers but hopefully they'll get their plans figured out soon too.

This week my goal is to get some menus finalized, maybe get a plan together with the DJ and if I'm feeling extra ambitious, go clothes shopping. I have to do all that, and somehow find time to attend PAX for 3 days.

:-)
